Thread Vein Removal
Thread veins or ‘spider’ veins are fine red or purple veins lying in the surface layers of your skin.
Thread veins are extremely common and although they do not cause any symptoms, people often dislike them as they are so visible.
Microslerotherapy is an extremely effective treatment for the removal of thread veins on the legs and involves a series of micro-injections into the vein through a very fine needle.
How Does the Treatment Work?
The procedure involves injecting a sclerosing agent into the vein which causes the lining of the vein to swell, so that blood can no longer flow . Over time the vein will disappear.
How many Micro-Sclerotherapy treatments will I need ?
The number of treatments depends on the individual and a single treatment will normally remove 60% of the treated vessels. Most people usually require a course of 3-5 treatments at 4 weekly intervals.
How long does the treatment take?
Microsclerotherapy treatments usually take 30 minutes per session, depending on the number of veins you wish to treat. You can normally resume your daily activities immediately after your treatment, although you will need to wear compression stockings for a few days afterwards. For this reason we advise that you do not undergo a treatment in the midst of summer or before going on holiday.
How will I look after the treatment and will it hurt?
Most people experience very little discomfort or none at all as the injection technique is superficial using a very small, fine needle. After the treatment your legs may be a little red and swollen and the veins may look more prominent than they did prior to the session. You can expect to see the veins fade away over two to four weeks following treatment.
Are there any contra-indications with Micro-Sclerotherapy?
Your practitioner will discuss any contra-indications at your complimentary consultation.
